All the newer ones weren't around when I was skating. I think Vans skatepark at potomac mills mall (closed now) just opened as I was getting out. That was a nice park. The park at Massanutten use to be really good, but now it's terrible. They got rid of all their quarter pipes and a lot of the rails.
Mount Trashmore seems like a good park. I think I saw when I got my last car at VA Beach. However, my only issue is that it seems very small. Very spaced out, but small. Depending on how many people are there, I could forsee it being a lot of waiting around.
Do they still have that skate park at the military base here?
To land a kickflip you're gonna need to be able to ollie at least 6" to get the deck to spin properly. Mainly you gotta keep your left foot's toe about 3 inches on the board 1/3 the way down the board (pretty close to your rear foot). If you have a strong left leg you can move it closer up, because the spin is dependent on how much momentum you hit the front of the board with. But basically, it's an ollie and flick your left foot out and land. When you ollie it's a bit more of a jump since you're not gonna be on the board ;)
If you're goofy footed, just switch whichever legs I told you to use.
It's far easier to teach in person, but took me about 6 months to get down pat. If you want to do some fun stuff, practice board slides and such. Those are far easier to get the hang of and are fun. I went from ollie -> board slide -> kickflip -> grind -> vert. Then I slowly dropped off of the sport due to injuries :/

I injured myself way too much and eventually had no time to do it anymore. How long have you been skating for?
